The OPTICS Story

After the publication of the Workplace Violence Prevention Handbook (CPI, 2022), Kim (the lead author) and David (the consulting publisher) realized that the handbook could only move the needle toward safe work environments so far. What was needed was an actionable system that puts knowledge, evidence-based best practices, and continuous intelligence into the hands of healthcare professionals.
So we listened. Through conversations with C-suite executives, workplace violence prevention committees, and frontline staff nationwide, a clear pattern emerged: they needed comprehensive assessment, gap analysis, automated policy, playbook, and report generation, assignable action plans, and continuous regulatory updates—all integrated in one platform.
Together, we ideated OPTICS. Healthcare professionals didn't just inform the design—they were part of the ideation process. Over 150 wireframes evolved through their real-world feedback. Our advisory board of experts and practitioners challenged us and helped refine the features and use cases.

Today, 25-30 organizations will soon be joining our pilot program. OPTICS will continuously evolve, but our commitment remains constant: make it easier for healthcare organizations to keep people safe, reduce risk, and improve operations.
